Well-related Marabi (I Am Invincible) took her unbeaten record to two when she followed up her debut success with another emphatic victory in the Sally Bruten Memorial Handicap (1200m) at Moonee Valley on Friday evening.

Last seen breaking her maiden by six lengths at Pakenham earlier in the month, the daughter of Yarraman Park resident I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit) was quickly away from the barriers and was placed in second on the fence by Ben Allen in the early part of the contest.

As the field approached the 550 metre mark, Marabi moved up on the outside of the leader and quickly sauntered impressively away to beat Frisson (Deep Field) by a stunning seven lengths. O’Reilly McLuke (Coats Choice) was a further half a length away in third.

Co-trainer David Eustace said the mare would now be aimed at black-type races.

“She’s a little bit raw,” Eustace told Racing.com. “She clearly wants a faster tempo and a better race now, but she put them to bed very quickly - it’s obviously very exciting.

“Greg Perry, her breeder, will be very excited and getting some black-type is going to be in the forefront of our minds.

“She won’t be stepping up in trip, she is clearly a very fast filly and I think you could go back in trip if the right race presented itself. We will just get over the weekend and work it out.”

The four-year-old mare is out of Group 2 scorer Nakaaya (Tiger Hill) whose four other winners are headed by 2018 VRC Oaks (Gr 1, 2500m) winner Aristia (Lonhro).

Further back this is the same pedigree as Group 1 winner Royal Purler (Hector Protector).

Nakaaya died in 2020 and her final foal was a filly by Newgate Farm’s Blue Diamond (Gr 1, 1200m)-producing stallion Flying Artie (Artie Schiller).

I Am Invincible is sitting third behind Not A Single Doubt and Written Tycoon in Australia’s leading sires’ championship and he will be represented by seven lots at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale, while he has 53 lots catalogued at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.
