Group 1 winner September Run (Exceed And Excel) will attempt to add a second top-flight race to her CV when she lines up in the Newmarket Handicap (Gr 1, 1200m) at Flemington on Saturday.

The Chris Waller-trained daughter of Exceed And Excel (Danehill) took out the  Coolmore Stud Stakes (registered as Ascot Vale Stakes) (Gr 1, 1200m) in November and she was last seen finishing second behind her multiple Group 1-winning stablemate Nature Strip (Nicconi) in the Black Caviar Lightning Stakes (Gr 1, 1000m) on her most recent start on February 13.

Craig Williams - who will take the ride on the filly on Saturday - partnered September Run in a 800 metre jump out at Flemington on Friday and could not contain his delight in the way the filly went about her work.

"You always hope they hold their form, but she seems to have come on," Williams said.

"Steven Arnold rides her in most of her work and I spoke to him after the feeling she gave me in the jump-out, and he says she's definitely come on, and he's a great judge.

"She had a lot of built-up energy in her jump-out and we're looking forward to using that in the Newmarket."

Weights for the Newmarket are likely to be raised with topweights Nature Strip and Bivouac (Exceed And Excel), both on 58.5kg, unlikely to start.
