Gelding set to defend Ranvet Stakes and Queen Elizabeth Stakes crown
The William Haggas-trained Addeybb (Pivotal) has arrived in Sydney as he begins his quest to retain his Ranvet Stakes (Gr 1, 2000m) and Queen Elizabeth Stakes (Gr 1, 2000m) crowns.
The son of Pivotal (Polar Falcon) - who travelled with stablemate Favorite Moon (Sea The Moon) - left London on Sunday night with and will commence their two-week quarantine period at Sydney's Canterbury racecourse ahead of the Ranvet Stakes on March 20.
"It's obviously pleasing to see Addeybb return to defend his Queen Elizabeth title given the fact he remains the highest rated horse in training at the moment," James Ross, the Australian Turf Club's general manager of racing, Wagering and International.
"The return of Addeybb adds an additional dimension to our carnival, having a horse like him against Verry Ellleegant, Colette, potentially Sir Dragonet. They are an exciting bunch of horses heading towards the Queen Elizabeth."
Meanwhile, Favorite Moon (Sea The Moon) is being prepared on a Sydney Cup (Gr 1, 3200m) path and is likely to follow the route taken by Young Rascal (Intello) last year, contesting the N.E. Manion Cup (Gr 3, 2400m) on March 20 before the Sydney Cup (Gr 1, 3200m) on April 10.
