Snowden-trained colt Frostin' scores at Bendigo
The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Frostin' (2 c ex Patina by Anabaa) got off the mark at the third attempt when he broke his maiden at Bendigo on Tuesday and in the process became the fourth winner for Darley shuttler Frosted (Tapit) in Australia.
The two-year-old colt finished fourth behind Enthaar (Written Tycoon) in Chairman’s Stakes (Gr 3, 1000m) on debut in January and was last seen finished second over 1100 metres at Bendigo on February 13.
Frostin', who started the $1.90 favourite, showed a good turn of foot to pull away from his rivals, eventually beating Wegottem Today Son (Manhattan Rain) by two and a quarter lengths, while Wine From Tears (Starcraft) was a further length and a quarter away in third.
The colt was purchased by his trainers for $60,000 at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale from the Riverina Downs draft and he is out of three time-winning Anabaa (Danzig) mare Patina, making him a half-brother to Group 2 scorer Viridine (Poet’s Voice).
Further back this is the same family as multiple Group 1 winner Osborne Bulls (Street Cry).
Frosted’s Australian first-crop is headed by stakes winner Ingratiating, who finished second in the Blue Diamond Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m), while his total global winner count stands at 26 headed by Grade 2 winner Travel Column.
