Carbine Club Stakes (Gr 3, 1600m) winner Crosshaven (Smart Missile) has been sold to Hong Kong and will continue his career with David Hayes. The three-year-old gelding, who was bought by Lindsay Park Racing for NZ$80,000 at Karaka 2019 Book 1 has raced nine times for five wins in Australia but finished last in the Futurity Stakes (Gr 1, 1400m) at Caulfield on his last start in February.

"Crosshaven will be joining my team in Hong Kong. He'll have an easy month in Australia and then head up after that," Hayes told Racing.com.

His stablemate, Aysar (Deep Field), who finished runner-up to the son of Smart Missile (Fastnet Rock) in the Carbine Club Stakes could also continue his career in Hong Kong providing he passes his vetting.

"Aysar has still got to pass an extensive Hong Kong vet test and if he passes that, the sale will go through, he'll be gelded, trained as a sprinter and maybe head towards the Rupert Clarke Stakes," Hayes said.

Aysar is raced by Shadwell Stud Australasia, who last month announced that they would be selling their Australian-based stock, having been purchased by the operation for $260,000 at the 2019 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale. He finished ninth of 15 in Saturday’s Australian Guineas (Gr 1, 1600m).

"I just think Aysar needs gelding and Sheikh Hamdan is reducing his stock. We had a crack to make him a stallion by winning the Australian Guineas, which didn't pay off, and Sheikh Hamdan was very happy to sell him,” Hayes added.

The progeny of Newgate Farm’s Deep Field have performed exceptionally well in Hong Kong with the sire having produced nine winners including Winning Dreamer, Sky Field and Californiadeepshot.

Meanwhile, the Team Hawkes-trained Zebrowski (Savabeel) has also been sold to Hong Kong and will continue his career with Casper Fownes. Runner up in last year’s Australian Derby (Gr 1, 2400m), Zebrowski won two races from 12 starts.
