Irish-bred son of Fastnet Rock remains unbeaten in two starts in Australia
Eagles Crag, an Irish-bred son of Coolmore Australia reverse shuttler Fastnet Rock (Danehill), remains unbeaten in two Australian starts having scored an impressive victory over 1600 metres at Sandown-Lakeside on Wednesday.
Now trained by Archie Alexander, having begun his career in England with Ed Walker, the OTI Racing-owned entire scored a convincing length and three quarter victory over Prism (All Too Hard), with Play Me Now (Bernardini) third.
Prism jumped well and went to the lead, while Eagles Crag settled down in third racing three wide. Rounding the home turn, Eagles Crag began to move up and showed an impressive turn of foot in the straight to take the lead at the 200 metre mark and then pulled away to score a good win, following on from his Australian debut when he scored by almost six lengths over 1600 metres at Pakenham on February 11.
Bought by Jeremy Brummitt for €95,000 at the 2018 BBAG September Yearling Sale, Eagles Crag is one of eight winners out of the twice-raced Singspiel (In The Wings) mare La Salina making him a brother to the German Group 3 winner La Saldana. His second dam is La Colorada (Surumu) who produced nine winners headed by multiple Group 1 winner and sire Lomitas (Niniski).
