Group 2 winner Wild Ruler (Snitzel) will kick off his Autumn campaign in the Fireball Stakes (Listed, 1100m) at Randwick on Saturday, with colt's preparation likely to be geared towards The Galaxy (Gr 1, 1100m).

The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained son of Snitzel (Redoute's Choice) was a comfortable winner of the Roman Consul (Gr 2, 1200m) in October and he was last seen finishing third behind September Run (Exceed And Excel) in the Coolmore Stud Stakes (registered as Ascot Vale Stakes) (Gr 1, 1200m) in October.

"He's been building, he's been getting better, each prep he's come in he's been better than the last so hopefully he can do that this prep,'' Peter Snowden said.

"It's a good starting point for him, he's pretty well weighted considering what he's done.

"The Coolmore winner and second ran second and third in the Lightning so the form stacks up well."

The colt won two barrier trials in February leading into his first-up assignment, with race day jockey James McDonald on board, and Snowden can't fault what he's seen.

"His trials have been great, the horse is in good order and the best he's ever looked,'' he said.

"He seems to be settling really well in his trials, we'll go out there with a positive frame of mind."

Meanwhile, Snowden will be hoping King's Legacy (Redoute's Choice) can return to his best when he lines up in the Randwick Guineas (Gr 1, 1600m) on Saturday.

King's Legacy landed the Sires' Produce Stakes (Gr 1, 1400m) and Champagne Stakes (Gr 1, 1600m) as a juvenile, prompting Coolmore to buy into the James Harron-raced colt, but the colt failed to fire in his four starts as a three-year-old in the spring.

The son of Redoute's Choice (Danehill) kicked off his autumn campaign when finishing sixth behind unbeaten New Zealand raider Aegon (Sacred Falls) - who he will clash with again on Saturday - in the Hobartville Stakes (Gr 2, 1400m) on February 20.

Snowden said he believed the colt's effort was better than the sixth place finish suggested.

"I was happy with his run I just wish he could have been in that spot we wanted to be then we could mark his card a bit harder,'' he said.

"You have to be forgiving, the time he ran we give a tick for that and I can't fault his work since the run."
