The Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr-trained Profiteer (Capitalist) steps up into Group company in the Todman Stakes (Gr 2, 1200m) on Saturday and Price is confident that the unbeaten son of Capitalist (Written Tycoon) can cement his Golden Slipper Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) credentials.

Price went to Sydney this week to oversee the colt, who is staying at Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou’s Rosehill stables, gallop over 800 metres.

"It was good and Gerald (Ryan) said they don't work much better," Price said on RSN radio.

"That was his main gallop in between his win in the (Inglis) Millennium and Saturday. I thought the horse was brilliant. He didn't blow all that much.

"He will be a good, strong chance on Saturday."

A winner on debut over 1100 metres at Flemington in December, Profiteer was dominant in the Inglis Millennium (RL, 1100m) on February 6, scoring a five and a quarter length victory. After that run the colt was given an ease-up.

"I thought it was a stressy run for him in the Millennium and the ten days he had with no saddle on has benefitted him no end,'' said Price.

"I'm sure if he gets the right ride he is going to be a strong winning chance.

"I've tried to allow for the Todman to bring him on, it'll be four weeks between runs but he's not a gross horse. He's an athletic and energetic colt.”

Profiteer will meet fellow unbeaten juveniles Stay Inside (Extreme Choice) and Remarque (Snitzel) in Saturday’s Todman Stakes. He will be partnered by Hugh Bowman and has drawn the inside gate.

"I'd love to think that he can run his first half nice and then the second half of the race can be the best part of him and he should be hard to beat," Price added.
