Coolmore’s So You Think and Newgate-based Capitalist the most popular stallions of 2020
The Australian Studbook has released covering figures for 2020 with Coolmore Australia’s So You Think (High Chaparral) and Newgate Farm’s Capitalist (Written Tycoon) the busiest covering 261 and 237 mares respectively.
Those figures were up from 2019 when So You Think covered 234 mares while Capitalist served 208 mares that year.
In Victoria, Swettenham Stud shuttler Toronado (High Chaparral) covered 210 mares last season with another three stallions covering 200 mares or more in Yes Yes Yes (Rubick), Pride Of Dubai (Street Cry) and Deep Field (Northern Meteor).
Rothesay (Fastnet Rock) covered the most amount of mares in Queensland with the Lyndhurst Stud-based sire having served 177 mares.
In all there were 40 stallions who covered 140 plus mares in Australia last season while 28 covered 150 or more mares.
