A colt by Capitalist tops the second day in Adelaide and when the sale concluded large gains were seen in all the major indicators
1. Capitalist continued his popularity in the sale ring siring the top lot on Day 2 of the Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale with a colt consigned by Cornerstone Stud selling to Aramco Racing for $425,000. He ended the sale as the leading sire by both aggregate and average (with three or more lots sold), with four of his yearlings selling for a gross of $805,000 at an average of $201,250.
2. Cornerstone Stud was the leading vendor by aggregate selling 20 yearlings for an aggregate of $1,395,500.
3. Leading purchasers were Will Clarken, Suman Hedge & David Jolly who purchased eight yearlings for $751,000.
4. At the completion of Book 1, 262 lots were sold at a clearance rate of 88% (up from 79%), the aggregate was $14,090,000 (+27%), average $53,779 (+39%) and median $37,250 (+24%).
5. All deciles experienced gains with the strongest growth coming in the top 10% of the market - that average up 66% to $184,808. Both the colts and fillies market were strong but exceptional growth was seen in the top fillies decile with the average price growing some 106% from $93,542 to $192,273.
6. In Her Time, who is in foal to I Am Invincible, is the latest high profile entrant announced for the Inglis Chairman’s Sale.
7. First season sire Star Turn sired his third winner when Startantes won a maiden over 1200m at Eagle Farm on Wednesday. Star Turn is currently the 5th leading first season sire by earnings.
8. Emirates Park Stud homebred Najmaty scored a taking debut victory after racing wide without cover to win over 1000m at Randwick-Kensington. Najmaty, who is by I Am Invincible out of Najoom, holds an entry in the Percy Sykes Stakes (Gr 2, 1200m) at Randwick on April 10.
