Daughter of Darley shuttler Street Boss not certain to run in Slipper

The James Cummings-trained Arcaded (2 f Street Boss - Gloriette by Lonhro) added a second stakes win to her record when she landed the Magic Night Stakes (Gr 2, 1200m), which holds a ballot exemption into next week’s Golden Slipper Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m), but the filly is likely to bypass the Rosehill Group 1 in favour of the Percy Sykes Stakes (Gr 2, 1200m) at Randwick on April 10. 

The daughter of Street Boss (Street Cry) posted a comfortable length and a quarter victory over Jamaea (Headwater) and Robodira (Husson), who dead-heated for second. 

Arcaded landed the Blue Diamond Prelude (f) (Gr 2, 1100m) in February, before finishing a disappointing 11th in the Blue Diamond Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) on her next start. 

Cummings was enjoying his third consecutive win in the race having landed it last year with Thermosphere (Exosphere), while Kiamichi (Sidestep) took out the Group 2 in 2019 before going onto the land the Golden Slipper a week later. 

However, Cummings has said Arcaded is not certain to back-up in the Group 1 next week. 

"I don't know about that, I think we give ourselves the opportunity to weigh up the rating and the strength of the race," Cummings said.

"But realistically if Arcaded was a humble owner's one horse in the stable, most likely the horse would be back out and running.

"She's got professionalism written all over her, there's just not a lot of her and on account of that four weeks into the Percy Sykes would seem like a pretty attractive option given the position of where we are at, at the moment."

Bred and raced by Godolphin, Arcaded is out of the Listed-placed Lonhro (Octagonal) mare Gloriette, who is herself a daughter of Group 3 winner Viennese (Redoute’s Choice). 

The filly’s third dam is Listed winner Snippets’ Lass (Snippets), who is famed for producing of Group 1 winner and now Arrowfield-based sire Snitzel (Redoute’s Choice) and Group 3 winner Hinchinbrook (Fastnet Rock), who stood at Yarraman Park until his untimely death in 2018. 

Snippets’ Lass is also the grandam of Listed winner Rathlin (Fastnet Rock). 

After missing to Street Boss in 2019, Gloriette produced a colt by fellow Darley stallion Epaulette (Commands) and she has most recently been covered again by the son of Commands (Danehill). 

Street Boss has sired 46 stakes winners overall and he is currently standing at Jonabell Farm in Kentucky. He has sired 11 stakes winners in Australia, headed by Group 1-winning pair The Quarterback and Elite Street. 

Arcaded is one of three stakes winners for Street Boss in Australia this season, with the aforementioned Elite Street and Todman Stakes (Gr 2, 1200m) winner Anamoe being the others.
