Tidal Impact makes waves on debut at Coonamble
Arrowfield Stud-based shuttler Shalaa (Invincible Spirit) was provided with his fourth Australian winner on Sunday, as Tidal Impact (2 f ex Eventide by Dane Shadow) made a glittering debut over 1100 metres at Coonamble on Sunday.
Trained by Damien Lane, the two-year-old had no issues with the wet underfoot conditions and never looked in any danger, eventually pulling an extraordinary nine and a half lengths clear of The Storm In Me (Press Statement) in second.
Purchased by her trainer and Impact Thoroughbreds for $40,000 at Round 2 of last year’s Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, the filly is the only winner out of seven time winner Eventide (Dane Shadow).
Eventide herself is a half-sister to stakes-placed duo Extreme Impact (Snitzel) and Wine Night (Playing God).
Further back this is the same pedigree as Listed winner Balcanny (Canny Lad) - the dam of Group 2 winner Blur (Flying Spur) and Group 3 winner Shrewd Rhythm (Danehill Dancer).
In 2019 Eventide produced a filly by Darley Stud-based sire Shooting To Win (Northern Meteor), before foaling a filly by Coolmore Stud’s So You Think (High Chaparral) last spring and she was covered by Newgate Farm’s Blue Diamond Stud (Gr 1, 1200m)-producing stallion Flying Artie (Artie Schiller) in November.
Shalaa’s global winner count stands at 28 and is headed by Shaquero, who added a third stakes win to his CV on Saturday when he took out the Pago Pago Stakes (Gr 3, 1200m) and now looks set for a run in the Golden Slipper Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) at Rosehill next Saturday.
The son of Invincible Spirit (Green Desert) has seven lots catalogued at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, which gets underway on April 6.
