Group 1 winner set for drop in class at Rosehill
The changes to the Autumn Carnival have prompted co-trainers Mick Price and Michael Kent jr to change plans for Group 1 winner Odeum (Written Tycoon), with the Thousand Guineas (Gr 1, 1600m) winner now set to step out in the Birthday Card Stakes (Gr 2, 1200m) at Rosehill on Saturday.
The filly had been set to tackle the Emancipation Stakes (Gr 2, 1500m) at Rosehill, scheduled for next Saturday, but because of the delay to the carnival, it has been pushed back a week.
Last seen running fourth in the March Stakes (Listed, 1400m), Odeum’s ultimate aim is the Coolmore Legacy (Gr 1, 1600m) at Randwick on April 17.
"Her aim is the Coolmore Legacy, so we have to find a run in between which could be this weekend," Kent Jr said.
"So rather than going four weeks between runs and going into the Emancipation as originally planned, we might keep it three weeks between runs and run her in the Birthday Card Stakes on Saturday.
"Blinkers will go on her and then she can be third-up into the Coolmore Legacy three weeks later.
"There has been a bit of jigging around because the program has changed.
"She worked the reverse way at Caulfield on Saturday and we're very happy with her.”
