$1,000,000 Exceed And Excel colt wins heat three
Ovoid (Exceed And Excel) scored an impressive all-the-way trial win over 1030 metres at Rosehill on Monday morning. The Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou-trained two-year-old colt was bought for $1,000,000 by Ryan and David Raphael from the Edinburgh Park draft at last year's Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale and on Monday was ridden by James McDonald.
The son of Exceed And Excel (Danehill) scored an impressive length and a quarter victory when defeating the Bjorn Baker-trained pair of Sea Treasures (So You Think) and Biology (Xtravagant) in a time of 1:03.98.
Ovoid is out of winning mare Smokin' Alice (Smoke Glacken) making him a half-brother to Magic Millions 3YO Guineas (RL, 1400m) winner Eleven Eleven (Fastnet Rock). His second dam is Listed winner Darling Alice (Northern Flagship) and this is the family of Group 1 winners Criterion (Sebring) and Comin' Through (Fastnet Rock).
