Three-time Group 1 winner Arcadia Queen (Pierro) looks to be heading into retirement after it was discovered the mare had sustained a tendon injury.

Owner/breeder Bob Peters told Racing.com that scans had revealed the damage, and while he said the injury, on first look, does not appear to be severe he said it placed her career in great jeopardy.

''I don't think it is (severe) bad but it doesn't really matter because once you start dealing with tendons, it can be a long time in recovery and there are no guarantees,'' Peters told Racing.com on Wednesday.

"She has inflammation of the tendon in the nearside front and with any tendon injuries you have to be very careful so she'll be scratched from her entries.

"We'll get the inflammation out and see what we have to do.

"She's five now and rising six and so by the time you get her over this…. I would have loved to race her on if this hadn't happened.

"Now I have to give it a lot of thought.''

The mare has won eight of her 16 starts, headlined by wins in the 2018 Kingston Town Classic (Gr 1, 1800m), Caulfield Stakes (Gr 1, 2000m) and LKS Mackinnon Stakes (Gr 1, 2000m) in 2020. The daughter of Pierro (Lonhro) has earned $3,991,035 in career prize-money.
