Group 1 winner looking to bounce back to his best
The 2019 Australian Derby (Gr 1, 2400m) winner Angel Of Truth (Animal Kingdom) will be looking to add a second top-flight victory to his CV when he lines up in the HE Tancred (Gr 1, 2400m) at Rosehill on Saturday.
The gelding turned in one of the best performances of his career when he led last weekend's Ranvet Stakes (Gr 1, 2000m) field and fought on tenaciously for third behind Verry Elleegant (Zed) and Addeybb (Pivotal).
He will back up in Saturday's 2400 metre assignment and while he again faces tough opposition in the form of Cox Plate (Gr 1, 2040m) winner Sir Dragonet (Camelot), multiple Group 1 winner Melody Belle (Commands), Group 1 winner Mirage Dancer (Frankel) and The Chosen One (Savabeel), but jockey Kerrin McEvoy believes he is up to the task.
"He's tough and he doesn't mind getting up on the pace and even taking it up, which he did on the weekend," McEvoy said.
"He ran a great race and showed he is in good form.
"He can hold his form going out to 2400 metres, which is a trip he has excelled at and won at previously."
