The John Sadler-trained Starry Legend (Zoustar) will aim to keep his unbeaten record intact when he lines up in The Showdown (1200m) at Caulfield on Saturday.

The juvenile son of Widden Stud-based stallion Zoustar (Northern Meteor) broke his maiden over 1000 metres at Sandown-Hillside on February 24 and he was last seen landing the VOBIS Gold Rush (1000m) at Bendigo on March 27.

"He had five days in the paddock after Bendigo," Sadler told Racing.com

"We were originally going to tip him out and think about his three-year-old career but when we found out he was eligible for that money we couldn't walk away from it."

Sadler admitted he had reservations about the rise in trip for the colt.

"That's the unknown," Sadler admitted. "He went a little hard at Bendigo so we are hoping he can relax and get the journey. If he runs the trip I don't know what will beat him."

Mick Dee will retain the ride on the Bon Ho-owned colt.

"He had his main gallop on Saturday on the course proper and worked well and will have a soft gallop tomorrow morning to get him ready," Sadler said.

"Saturday will answer what we do with him in Spring. If he was to come out and win well the sky's the limit for him."
