Daughter of Sebring will continue racing and not head to Chairman’s Sale
Last year’s Doncaster Mile (Gr 1, 1600m) winner Nettoyer (7 m Sebring - Cleanup by Dehere) added a second elite level victory to her CV when she landed the Queen Of The Turf Stakes (Gr 1, 1600m) at Randwick on Saturday and will now not be sold at the Inglis Chairman’s Sale on May 7.
Trained by Wendy Roache, the mare came into the race off the back of a ninth place finish when attempting to defend her crown in the Doncaster Mile on April 10 and she stormed past multiple Group 1 winner Probabeel (Savabeel), eventually beating her by a nose.
Quantum Mechanic (Deep Field) - who is from the same family as the winner - was a further length and three-quarters away in third.
Nettoyer is somewhat of a fairytale story, having come from humble beginnings and this latest victory takes her winning record to seven from 41 starts, which has seen her amass $2,508,700 in career prize-money.
"She's her own worst enemy, she was naughty in the gates which was a good sign, but she was naughty last week,” said Roache. “She missed the kick by three, she was 20 lengths off them and you can't do that in a Group 1 against the world's best horses.
“She only got beaten by four and a quarter lengths. She needs pace, like Peter Moody said about Masked Crusader last week on the forums all week horses that get back, they need a lot of pace and she had that today."
Roache- who also owns the daughter of Sebring (More Than Ready) - confirmed the mare would not take up her entry at the Inglis Chairman’s Sale on May 7, with the trainer hoping she would be covered by Darley’s star stallion Exceed And Excel (Danehill).
"She won't be sold now," she said.
"I've got to ring up Godolphin to see if she can go to Exceed And Excel.
"She will probably go to the Hollandale and then the BTC Cup and then off to Exceed And Excel."
Purchased for $20,000 at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale in 2015, the daughter of Sebring (More Than Ready) is one of five winners out of two time-winning mare Cleanup (Dehere), who is herself a half-sister to Group 3 winner She’s Clean (Redoute’s Choice).
The mare’s third dam is Keltshaan (Pleasant Colony) produced Grade 1 winner Kinshasa No Kiseki (Fuji Kiseki), while she is the grandam of Group 1-winning pair Abbey Marie (Redoute’s Choice) and Absolutely (Redoute’s Choice), Group 3 winner Runaway (Manhattan Rain) and Quantum Mechanic, who landed last month’s Sunline Stakes (Gr 2, 1600m) as well as South African Grade 2 winner Mount Pleasant (Vancouver).
Nettoyer is one of six Group 1 winners and 65 stakes winners for the late Widden Stud resident Sebring, who died in 2019.
