Xtremetime wins at Canterbury for John Thompson and Prime Thoroughbreds

The John Thompson-trained and Prime Thoroughbreds-raced Xtremetime (2 f ex Peace Time by War Front) became the fifth winner for Newgate Farm's Extreme Choice (Not A Single Doubt) when she posted a narrow victory in Wednesday's Hyland Race Colours Maiden Handicap (1200m) at Canterbury. 

The filly, who was a $160,000 purchase at last year's Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale from the draft of Newgate Farm, held on to beat Socialist (Capitalist) by a nose with Morioka (Maurice) another three quarters of a length back in third. 

"She gave me a great feel," said winning jockey Brenton Avdulla.

"JT (John Thompson) was very confident. She's a nice filly and still very raw, so there is plenty of upside to her."

Bred by SF Bloodstock, Xtremetime becomes the second winner for her dam Peace Time (War Front) who has also produced the Grade 1 placed colt Caracaro (Uncle Mo). She was bought for US$260,000 at the 2016 Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale by SF Bloodstock and after foaling Xtremetime produced a filly by Hellbent (I Am Invincible) who was bought for $60,000 by Triple Crown Syndications at this year's Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale and foaled another filly by former Vinery Stud shuttler More Than Ready (Southern Halo) last year. 

Newgate Farm announced on Tuesday that Extreme Choice, who currently sits at the head of the leading first season sires table in Australia by earnings, as well as the leading two-year-old sires table by earnings, will stand for a private fee in 2021.
