Group 1 winner to be joins in the race by stablemate Let’s Karaka Deel
Australian Derby (Gr 1, 2400m) winner Explosive Jack (Jakkalberry) will have his next start in the South Australian Derby (Gr 1, 2500m) and he will line up alongside stablemate Let's Karaka Deel (Dundeel) in the Group 1 at Morphettville on May 8.
"We didn't want to travel him (Explosive Jack) twice and his fitness is good, he's a very clean-winded horse and an athletic horse," co-trainer David Eustace said on RSN927.
"We wanted to not travel him and go a month (between runs) into the race."
Meanwhile, Ellmaknifico (Makfi) will aim to extend his unbeaten record to three when he tackles the Chairman's Stakes (Gr 3, 2000m) at Morphettville on Saturday and should he perform well he could also run in the South Australian Derby.
"Ellmaknifico has done nothing wrong, he's two from two and hopefully he can step up," Eustace said.
Through Irish Eyes could also plot a path there following Sunday's VRC St Ledger (Listed, 2800m).
"I thought if the race at Caulfield (Galilee Final) was run at Flemington, it would have suited him better and he could have got there," Eustace said.
"One thing we know is he'll stay, and I think he'll improve going to Flemington on a bigger track.
"He's lightly raced and continues to progress, and I think he's a pretty good horse."
"Whether we give him a chance to get to Queensland and skip Adelaide, we can work that out, but we'd love to run him in one of or both.”
