Adelaide filly to take in Listed race en route to Queensland Oaks
The Tony Gollan-trained Good Soize (Adelaide) will use the Princess Stakes (Listed, 1600m) at Doomben on Saturday as a stepping stone to the Queensland Oaks (Gr 1, 2200m) at Eagle Farm on June 5.
The three-year-old filly has not been seen since her victory over 1820 metres at Eagle Farm on December 12 and Gollan is confident Saturday’s Listed contest will be the perfect start for the daughter of Adelaide (Galileo).
"She's definitely an Oaks filly. She's the best chance I've had heading to a race like that," Gollan said.
"She's a very athletic sort of filly, with a very good set of lungs. I was always keen to kick her off first up at a mile.
"Her work (Tuesday) was very good, she's a filly I really like, she's a natural stayer. I can't wait to kick the prep off. She relaxes beautifully, she won't spend a penny in the run and she will be very good late.
"She never surprised us. The only day I thought she was vulnerable was first up 1350 metres.
"The minute she got to the mile and beyond I was always confident she would be very competitive in everything we had her in. That's how it panned out."
