The Gestut Auenquelle-based stallion Soldier Hollow (In The Wings) was handed his 48th stakes winner on Sunday when his daughter Deia (4 m ex Divya by Platini) landed the Brümmerhof Cup (Listed, 1900m) at Hannover. Making her four-year-old debut, the mare beat Schwesterherz (Areion) into second, while Blue Dream (Adlerflug) finished third. Soldier Hollow’s stakes winners are headed by five Group 1 winners, including dual Australian top-flight winner Ivanhowe.

39 for Zoffany
Former Coolmore Stud shuttler Zoffany (Dansili) sired his 39th stakes winner courtesy of Perseverants’ (3 c ex Perle Rare by Distorted Humor) win in the Prix Aymeri de Mauleon (Listed, 1600m) at Toulouse on Saturday. Last seen finishing third in the Prix Omnium II (Listed, 1600m) at Saint-Cloud on March 21, the colt is out of Perle Rare (Distorted Humor) - the daughter of dual Group 2 winner Peinture Rare (Sadler’s Wells). Further back this is the same family as dual Group 1 winner and successful stallion Peintre Celebre (Nureyev). Zoffany shuttled to Australia for four seasons and his progeny is headed by three Group 1 winners, including Ventura Storm, who also landed a Group 2 in Australia. Zoffany died in January.

75 for Sea The Stars
Gilltown Stud-based sire Sea The Stars (Cape Cross) sired his 75th stakes winner on Sunday when the Jean-Claude Rouget-trained Light Stars (3 f ex Sureyya by Monsun) broke through at stakes level for the first time in the Haras Des Granges Prix Caravelle (Listed, 2100m). The filly was purchased by Paul Nataf for €82,000 at the Arqana Deauville October Yearling Sale and she is out of stakes-placed Monsun (Königsstuhl) mare Sureyya, making her a half-sister to stakes-placed gelding Soriano (Halling). Sea The Stars has sired 14 top-flight winners, including last year’s Australian Cup (Gr 1, 2000m) winner Fifty Stars and 2019 Sydney Cup (Gr 1, 3200m)-winner Shraaoh, who it was announced on Sunday had died after succumbing to colic. Being out of a Monsun mare, the filly is bred on the same cross as eight stakes winners, including German Derby (Gr 1, 2400m) winner and now Lanwades Stud-based sire Sea The Moon and the aforementioned ill-fated Shraaoh.

Second stakes win for Rubaiyat
The Henk Grewe-trained Rubaiyat (4 c Areion - Representera by Lomitas) sired grabbed his second win at stakes level when he defeated Majestic Colt (Clodovil) Waldpfad Cup (Listed, 1300m) at Hannover on Sunday. The colt landed the Gran Criterium (Gr 2, 1500m) in Italy in 2019 and he has now won six of his 12 starts. The colt was for €26,000 purchased by HFTB Racing Agency at the BBAG September Yearling Sale in 2018 and he is one of 48 stakes winners for Gestut Etzean-based Areion (Big Shuffle).

Eighth stakes winner for Mehmas

The three-year-old began his career with Richard Fahey, for whom he won one start, he was then transferred to Daniel Mark Loughnane after the trainer purchased the colt for 40,000gns at the Tattersalls Autumn Horses In Training Sale in 2020 and he would go on to win two starts for Loughnane. The colt was then purchased by Marco Bozzi Bloodstock for 85,000gns at the Tattersalls February Mixed Sale in 2021 and was sent into training with his now trainer Roberto Biondi. Mehmas’ progeny is headed by Group 1 winner Supremacy.

Unlucky not to have landed a stakes race as a two-year-old, having been placed in black-type company on three occasions, but she finally got her head in front when she defeated Logo Hunter (Brazen Beau) by three-quarters of a length, while Lipizzaner (Uncle Mo) - who is out of Australian Group 1 winner Irish Lights (Fastnet Rock) - finished another length and a half away in third. Measure Of Magic - who was purchased by her trainer and Eddie Linehan for €9,500 at the Goffs Ireland Autumn Yearling and Mixed Sale in 2019 - joins Cobhfield as Kodi Bear’s other stakes winner.

Purchased by Diego Dettori for £3,500 at the 2019 Goffs UK Doncaster Silver Yearling Sale, Wakanaka is the only winner out of Kodiac (Danehill) mare Storyline. The filly’s third dam produced Group 3 winner Whitbarrow (Royal Abjar), who is half-sister to Listed winner Lady Valeur (Multiplex). This is the second stakes winner in as many days for Power, with Lady Maroal becoming his 19th overall balack-type winner when she took out the Champagne Stakes (Listed, 1600m) at Ellerslie on Saturday.

Former shuttler Rock Of Gibraltar (Danehill) was represented by his 135th stakes winner on Sunday as Rocky Sky (3 f ex Road Tosky by Elusive City) trounced her rivals in the Salasbil Stakes (Listed, 1m2f) at Navan. Purchased by Lech Racing and Sussex Stud at the Tattersalls December Foals Sale for a mere 3,500gns, the gelding is out of the twice raced mare Dame Shirley (Haafhd), who is herself a daughter of Listed winner Welsh Diva (Selkrik), making her a sister to Group 3 scorer Fityaan. The gelding is one of ten stakes winners for Harbour Watch (Acclamation), who shuttled to Australia for two seasons and was retired from stud duties in 2017 after five breeding seasons at Tweenhills Stud.
