Daughter of Dream Ahead to swerve Takeover Target Stakes.

Despite being nominated for the Takeover Target Stakes (Listed, 1200m) at Gosford, Salina Dreaming (Dream Ahead) will not line up in the Listed race and instead tackle a Benchmark 78 (1200m), with trainer Angela Davies eyeing bigger targets for the four-year-old mare. 

"I'll probably take the easier option which will be the fillies and mares race, rather than go there yet," Davies said.

"What we're trying to do is to get some black type with her so we secure her future as a broodmare. That's basically where we're going with her.

"You need to sort of find the fillies and mares listed, that would be the ideal for her going forward. That may end up in the spring, at some point in the spring we could possibly head to Melbourne."

Salina Dreaming finished sixth last start, having won over 1100 metres at Warwick Farm on March 31. 

"She missed a little bit of work leading into it and I think you had to be absolutely on top of your game there against that horse the other week," Davies said.

"She might've just had a little bit too long between runs for her and mightn't have been quite as fit as we had wanted to be.

"1100 or 1200 metres is her best distance, I don't know if she'll get much further. We haven't tried her over it, but I think her speed probably dictates it, I don't know whether she'd settle well enough to get 1400 metres."
