Popular wet-tracker landed 18 races in 89 starts
Multiple Group 3-winning sprinter Jungle Edge (Dubawi) - known for his love of soft tracks - has been retired, his trainer Mick Bell announced on Sunday.
A winner of 18 of his 89 career starts, headed by four victories at Group 3 level, Jungle Edge he also placed at Group 1 level on three occasions. The son of Dubawi (Dubai Millennium) earned $1,709,970 in career prize-money throughout his career.
“We’ve always said when the time was right that he would be retired and that time is now,” Bell told Racing.com.
“He could have pushed on because he’s still very fit and well in himself and has enjoyed his racing all the way until the end and that’s what we’ve always wanted for him.
“He’s meant so much to us and we really want to thank everyone that’s followed his career and has given him so much love and support.”
Bell says while the popular gelding is always welcome to spend his retirement at the trainer’s Cranbourne property, plans have not yet been confirmed where Jungle Edge will spend his following years with hopes he might even be given a spot at Living Legends.
