Newgate Farm's first season sire Extreme Choice (Not A Single Doubt) sired his second first crop stakes winner on Saturday when his daughter Xtremetime (2 f ex Peace Time by War Front) won the Woodland Stakes (Listed, 1100m) at Rosehill.

Rounding the hometurn towards the rear of the field, Xtremetime was taken down the outside in the straight and she quickened well to reel in Ashema (I Am Invincible) and score by a nose. Favourite Shihonka (Capitalist) was another two lengths behind in third.

Fifth on debut at Randwick last December, Xtremetime who was bought by Prime Thoroughbreds for $160,000 at last year's Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale from the draft of Newgate Farm, broke her maiden at Canterbury on April 21 over 1200 metres, becoming her sires fifth winner. Following Saturday's victory, trainer John Thompson said the filly would likely now be spelled and brought back for the fillies three-year-old series in the spring.

"I think she's a promising filly," Thompson said.

"I said that to Brenton (Avdulla) before he rode her at Canterbury and she got the job done there. She was a little bit green in front but today she showed that she can come from behind as well from a wide draw.

"I think she's got a very bright future.

"I will have a talk to the owners, I never make a decision on race day, but I would give her a freshen up and bring her back for the three-year-old fillies series in the spring."

Bred by SF Bloodstock, Xtremetime is one of two winners for her dam Peace Time (War Front) who has also produced the Grade 1 placed colt Caracaro (Uncle Mo). She was bought for US$260,000 at the 2016 Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale by SF Bloodstock and after foaling Xtremetime produced a filly by Hellbent (I Am Invincible) who was bought for $60,000 by Triple Crown Syndications at this year's Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale and foaled another filly by former Vinery Stud shuttler More Than Ready (Southern Halo) last year.

Sire of Golden Slipper Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) winner Stay Inside, Extreme Choice has sired five winners from 13 runners and in addition to Stay Inside an Extremetime has sired two stakes place getters in Extreme Warrior and Tiger Of Malay with just 48 live foals from his first book of mares.

Xtremetime is Thompson's only horse by the stallion.

"I wouldn't mind a few more. It's a shame he's a bit infertile, they're natural athletes," he said.

Ashema's dam Omniscient (Exceed And Excel) is catalogued as Lot 945 in the draft of Segenhoe Stud at the upcoming Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale while her half-sister by Spieth (Thorn Park) is catalogued as Lot 1477 at the National Yearling Sale.
