Godolphin’s Heresy (2 f ex Montsegur by New Approach) showed a good turn of foot in the straight to take out the David Coles AM Stakes (Gr 3, 1200m) at Morphettville to give her sire Street Boss (Street Cry) his 50th stakes winner worldwide. Heresy becomes the first stakes winner and fourth winner for her Group 3 winning dam Montsegur, winner of the Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes (Gr 3, 1200m) as a two-year-old herself. She is from the family of Merchant Navy (Fastnet Rock) and Jolie Bay (Fastnet Rock). Street Boss is currently 20th in the leading sires table of Australia by earnings with his principal earner being multiple Group 1 winner Anamoe.

Narrow victory for Lord Vladivostok in R A Lee Stakes
Former NZ-trained Lord Vladivostok (4 g ex Soviet Lu by Soviet Star) scored a narrow but determined win in the R A Lee Stakes (Gr 3, 1600m) at Morphettville on Saturday to give his late sire Tavistock (Montjeu) his 29th stakes winner. Now trained by Michael Hickmott the four-year-old who was winning for the sixth time wearing Dr Drill (Dansili) late on to score by a head. Lord Vladivostok becomes the first stakes winner for his unraced dam Soviet Liu (Soviet Star) with his half-sister Sita (Bertolini) being the dam of Dunedin Gold Cup (Listed, 2400m) winner Sitarist (Road To Rock).

Criminal Defence scores upset victory in Rough Habit Plate
66/1 outsider Criminal Defence (3 g ex Red’s Image by Dehere) scored an upset victory in the Rough Habit Plate (Gr 3, 2000m) at Doomben giving his Widden Stud-based sire Nicconi (Bianconi) his 22nd stakes winner. Criminal Defence was given a good ride by Michael Rodd settling in third position one off the fence, he came under pressure at the 600 metre mark but stayed on strongly relishing the step up in distance. Criminal Defence is the first stakes winner for his unraced dam Red’s Image who was sold carrying him at the 2017 Inglis Broodmare Sale for $22,000.

Mimi’s Award takes SA Fillies Classic
The Lindsay Park-trained Mimi’s Award (3 f ex Aunt Mimi by More Than Ready) stayed on strongly from back in the field to take the SA Fillies Classic (Gr 3, 2500m) at Morphettville to give her much underrated sire Shamus Award (Snitzel) his 14th stakes winner overall and ninth this season. Shamus Award currently sits 16th in the leading sires table by earnings and equal seventh leading sire by stakes winner with nine this season. Mimi’s Award was scoring her third win in a row progressing from a Pakenham Maiden win over 1600 metres in April to today’s Group 3 victory. She holds an entry in the Queensland Oaks (Gr 1, 2400m) and judging by her strong staying performance today this could be a good target for her. Mimi’s Award is the first stakes winner for her dam who is an unraced daughter of Strawberry Field (Encosta De Lago), she is also bred on the same cross that produced Group 1 winner Media Award. She was a $15,000 purchase by Slade Bloodstock at the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale from the draft of Newgate Farm.

Ballistic Lover scores strong win in Denise’s Joy
The Joe Pride-trained Ballistic Lover (3 f ex She’s A Sweetheart by Show A Heart) scored a big victory under top weight and leading throughout to take out the Denise’s Joy (Listed, 1100m) at Rosehill to give her sire Twin Hills Stud-based sire Smart Missile (Fastnet Rock) his 21 stakes winner. Ballistic Lover is the only winner out of her dam who is an unraced half-sister to Lean Mean Machine (Zoustar), this is also the family of Love Conquer’s All (Show A Heart). Ballistic Lover was a $80,000 purchase by Tricolours Racing & Syndications at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale Book 2 from the draft of Newgate Farm.

O’Shea-trained gelding scores sixth win from seven starts
The talented Lost And Running (4 g ex Dreamlife by Danroad) continued his progression with a good win in the Luskin Star Stakes (Listed, 1300m) at Rosehill, notching up his first stakes win and his fifth win from six starts. In winning, Lost And Running gave the LA Stud-based Per Incanto (Street Cry) his 20th stakes winner. Lost And Running is out of the unplaced Dreamlife who is a sister to Group 3 winner Kiss Me Ketut, winner of the Vamos Stakes (Gr 3, 1400m). Lost And Running was purchased by his trainer for just $40,000 at the Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale from the draft of Blandford Lodge.

Reloaded breaks through for first stakes win in TRHA Members Quality
The Chris Waller-trained Reloaded (4 g ex Hollow Bullet by Tayasu Tsuyoshi) broke through for his first sakes win taking out the TRHA Members’ Quality Handicap (Listed, 1600m) at Doomben on Saturday to give his sire Snitzel (Redoute’s Choice) his 109th stakes winner. James McDonald made a quick move at the 600 metres taking the gelding from last to be challenging four and five wide on turning for home. He flattened a little on his run but stayed on strongly going on to score by a length. Reloaded becomes the first stakes winner for multiple Group 1 winner Hollow Bullet, who is a half-sister to Red Hot Mama (General Nediym) and Last Bullet (High Chaparral). Reoladed was purchased for $350,000 at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale by Harras Syndicat/Mulcaster Bloodstock from the draft of Arrowfield Stud.

The Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou-trained Albumin (6 g ex Dushandbe by Secret Savings) scored a narrow victory in the Ortensia Stakes (Listed, 1100m) at Rosehill to give his sire Foxwedge (Fastnet Rock) his 21 stakes winner. Albumin is out of Dushanbe who is an unplaced daughter of Tristanagh (Sir Tristram). He was purchased by his trainers as a yearling for $75,000 at the Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale from the Kornong Station draft.

Brooklyn Hustle (4 m ex Joint Aspiration by Pivotal) overcame a slow start to come with a strong late run to take out the Proud Miss Stakes (Gr 3, 1200m) notching up her first stakes win after multiple stakes placings to give her sire Starspangledbanner (Choisir) his 17th stakes winner. The Rosemont Stud homebred, who had contested six consecutive Group 1 races, appreciated the drop back in class impressing in the straight along the inside. Brooklyn Hustle gave her stakes winning dam Joint Aspiration who first stakes winner as a broodmare while her daughter Reign (Elusive City) is already the dam of two stakes winners in Italy. Brooklyn Hustle victory also gave Pivotal his 114th stakes winner as a broodmare sire with nine of those coming in Australia headed by Australian Oakes (Gr 1, 2400m) winner Hungry Heart (Frankel).

Consistent stayer The Good Fight (6 g ex Pravda by Zabeel) broke through for his first stakes victory in the Rotorua Cup (Gr 3, 2200m) to give his sire High Chaparral (Sadler’s Wells) his 133rd stakes winner. The Good Fight also became the second stakes winner for Pravda who was a multiple stakes winner herself. Her other stakes winner is Pravana (Anabaa) winner of the Aspiration Handicap (Listed, 1600m).

The six-year-old mare has now won nine races and is a half-sister to the stakes placed Queen Of Zealand (Savabeel). This is the family of the Le Barron (Golan) and Volstok’n’barrell (Tavistock).

The well-bred Realm Of Flowers (4 m So You Think - Astral Flower by Kalanisi) scored a five length win in the Andrew Ramsden Stakes (Listed, 2800m) securing her place in this year’s Melbourne Cup (Gr 1, 3200m) in the process. The winner of the SA Fillies Classic (Gr 3, 2500m) on the same day last year Realm Of Flowers gave her sire So You Think his 12th stakes winner for the season. Realm Of Flowers is out of half-sister to Grade 1 winner and sire Redwood (High Chaparral).

Another winner for leading first season sire
Colour De Roy (2 c ex Kaitlin Cove by Snitzel) ran out a ready winner of a 1000 metre maiden at Kembla breaking his maiden at his third start giving his first season sire Capitalist (Written Tycoon) his 14th winner in Australia and 15th overall. Capitalist also sired the runner up in the race, Satin Ribbons.
