Street Boss takes his tally to 51 and Better Than Ready adds a new Group winner
51 for Street Boss
After finishing second in the Champagne Stakes (Listed, 1600m) at Ellerslie on April 24, the Carl Henderson-trained Atullibigeal (2 g ex Kellys Ocean Jewel by Dansili) went one better on Saturday when he scored a dominant three-length victory in the Futurity Stakes (Listed, 1400m) at Ellerslie, becoming the 51st stakes winner for Street Boss (Street Cry). Atullibigeal was bought by Ben Kwok and Bevan Smith Bloodstock for $40,000 at the 2019 Inglis Great Southern Sale from the draft of Swettenham Stud and was then passed in for NZ$80,000 at last year’s Karaka Book 1. Street Boss will stand at Darley’s Kelvinside farm for a fee of $55,000 (inc GST) this season.

Two for Better Than Ready
A Listed winner previously, the Desleigh Forster-trained Apache Chase (3 g ex Silken Whisper by Diesis) became the second Group winner for Better Than Ready (More Than Ready) when he won Saturday’s Fred Best Classic (Gr 3, 1400m) at Eagle Farm. The gelding was bought for $50,000 by owner Michael Sherrin from the Eureka Stud draft at the 2019 Magic Millions Gold Coast March Yearling Sale and has now won five times from 13 career starts earning just over $600,000. The Lyndhurst Stud-based Better Than Ready has sired five stakes winners in total.
