Blackfriars and Gingerbread Man add new stakes winners and Star Witness notches up winner number 16

44 for Blackfriars
Blackfriars (Danehill), who died in 2017, sired his 44th stakes winner when Tena Koutou (3 g ex Aloha Miss by Hurricane Sky) won the Aquanita Stakes (Listed, 2000m) at Belmont Park on Saturday. The Adam Durrant-trained gelding was scoring his third win in a row after two recent wins at Kalgoorlie and Pinjarra in June. Durrant also is a part-owner and breeder of the three-year-old who is the first stakes winner for her dam Aloha Miss (Hurricane Dream) who in turn is a daughter of Belmont Oaks (Listed, 2000m) winner Kia Ora Miss (Jeune) who also is the dam of Kia Ora Koutou (Blackfriars) a Listed winner in WA and placed third in the Victoria Derby (Gr 1, 2500m). 

 

Six for Gingerbread Man
Chili Is Hot (3 f ex Society Gal by Faltaat) scored a surprise narrow victory in the Belmont Oaks (Listed, 2000m) at Belmont Park on Saturday to give her sire Gingerbread Man (Shamardal) his sixth stakes winner. Chili Is Hot is the first stakes winner for her unraced dam Society Gal (Faltaat) who is a sister to Hong Kong Group One winner Sight Winner (Faltaat) winner of the Champions Miles (Gr 1, 1600m). She was purchased for just $500 as weanling at the 2018 Magic Millions Perth Winter Mixed Sale by John Chalmers. Gingerbread Man stands for a fee of $5,500 at Yarradale Stud in Western Australia.

 

16th winner for Star Turn
First season sire Star Turn (Star Witness) sired his 16th winner overall and 15th in Australia when the Team Hawkes-trained Turnstar (2 g ex Mihiri by More Than Ready) won a Maiden over 900 metres at Newcastle on Saturday. Turnstar is a half-brother to top class Hong Kong sprinter Wellington (All Too Hard) and was a $50,000 purchase by Hawkes Racing at the 2020 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale Round 2 from the draft of Kia Ora Stud.

 

First SH bred winner for Sir Prancealot
Cornerstone Stud’s sire Sir Prancealot (Tamayuz) sired his first Australian-bred winner when Belle Of Yorkes (2 f ex Charzoo by Redoute’s Choice) won over 1200 metres at Murray Bridge on Saturday. Belle Of Yorkes was runner up on debut and went one better to take out the Adelaide Event Catering 2YO Plate for trainer John O’Connor. Sir Prancelot’s ten stakes winners are headed by Group One winner Lady Prancealot. He stands for a fee of $9,900 (inc GST) at Cornerstone Stud and reverse shuttles to Rancho San Miguel in California where he stands for a fee of US$15,000.
