It’sarayday impressive at Belmont on debut 

Newgate Farm’s first season sire Winning Rupert (Written Tycoon) sired his second new winner in as many days, and 11th overall, when It’sarayday (2 g ex Wild Soiree by Fusaichi Pegasus) was impressive on debut at Belmont on Saturday. 

Trained by Simon Miller, It’sarayday had placed in two trials and on Saturday pulled clear to score a length and three quarters victory over The Front Bar (Session), with The Velvet Queen (Universal Ruler) a further long neck away in third. 

Bred by SF Bloodstock, It’sarayday was bought by his trainer for $80,000 from Newgate Farm’s draft at last year’s Inglis Classic Yearling Sale. He becomes the seventh winner, from as many runners, out of the once-raced Fusaichi Pegasus (Mr Prospector) mare Wild Soiree. She was covered last year by Tassort (Brazen Beau) while her filly by Super One (I Am Invincible) was bought for $4,500 at the recent Inglis Digital April (Late) Sale by Glen Milligan. 

Winning Rupert stood for a fee of $16,500 (inc GST) last year when he covered 79 mares and he will stand for $11,000 (inc GST) this year. He is now sitting third in the leading first season sires table by winners in Australia behind barnmate Capitalist (Written Tycoon) (18) and Star Turn (Star Witness) (16).
