Leading sire of two-year-olds winners in Australia
The Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young-trained Sistrum (2 c ex Dream Tiara by Heart’s Cry) won Sunday’s Evergreen Turf Maiden Plate (1200m) at Ballarat and in doing so became the 20th juvenile winner this season for Arrowifeld Stud’s Snitzel (Redoute’s Choice).
Sistrum, who finished fourth on debut at Moe last month, scored by a head from Armed (American Pharoah), with the same distance back to Tauty (Cluster) in third.
"He handled the ground really nicely and I think that will be a nice form race going forward and I think whatever he does this prep, he's going to be a really nice three-year-old," said winning jockey Craig Newitt.
Withdrawn from last year’s Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale when Arrowfield Stud withdrew their entire draft, Sistrum was later sold privately.
He is the second winner out of winning Japanese mare Dream Tiara (Heart’s Cry) whose Snitzel filly was sold to Andrew Williams Bloodstock for $300,000 at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale in January. Dream Tiara was covered by The Autumn Sun (Redoute’s Choice) last November having produced another filly by Snitzel.
Schnitzel sits at the head of the leading two-year-old sires table in Australia by winners, two ahead of nearest rival Capitalist (Written Tycoon). He has sired 13 stakes winners in Australia this season with his leading earner being Wild Ruler.
