Archipenko, Dark Angel, Golden Horn and Mehmas add new stakes winners and Caravaggio records his ninth winner

24 for Archipenko
Archipenko (Kingmambo) sired his 24th stakes winner when Aleas (3 g ex Alea Iacta by Invincible Spirit) won the Glasgow Stakes (Listed, 1m3f) at Hamilton on Friday evening. Aleas raced handy to the pace and took over at inside the final two furlongs and had enough in hand to hold off Title (Camelot), who was three quarters of a length back in second with Glenartney (Le Havre) a further length and a quarter back in third. Aleas, who is raced by his breeder Kirsten Rausing, is the first stakes winner for her Group Three winning dam Alea Iacta (Invincible Spirit) who is a half-sister to three stakes winners including Park Hill Stakes (Gr 2, 1m6f) winner Alyssa (Sir Percy). 

 

73 for Dark Angel
Dark Angel (Acclamation) sired his 73rd stakes winner when Real World (4 c ex Nafura by Dubawi) impressively took out the Steventon Stakes (Listed, 1m2f) at Newbury on Saturday. Real World was last seen winning the Royal Hunt Cup (1m) at Royal Ascot and readily took the step up to stakes company running out a one and quarter length victory over Enable’s half-brother Derab (Sea The Stars), with a further three and three quarters of a length back to Solid Stone (Shamardal) in third. Real World’s dam, Nafura (Dubawi), is a two-time winning half-sister to Librettist (Danzig) and Dubai Destination (Kingmambo). She is also the dam of Dubai Fountain (Teofilo) winner of this year's Cheshire Oaks (Listed, 1m3f).

 

Third stakes win for Happy Romance
Happy Romance (3 f Dandy Man - Rugged Up by Marju) won the Hackwood Stakes (Gr 3, 6f) at Newbury on Saturday to register her third stakes victory. She scored by a neck over Diligent Harry (Due Diligence) with a nose further back to Tabdeed (Havana Gold) in third. The Richard Hannon-trained Happy Romance was a £25,000 by Peter & Ross Doyle Bloodstock from the Goffs UK Premier Yearling Sale in 2019. She is the only stakes winner out of Rugged Up (Marju) an unraced half-sister to Japanese Group Three winner Meiner Eternal (Tamayuz) and Listed winner Warsaw (Danehill Dancer). Dandy Man is the sire of 20 stakes winners 12 of which are Group winners. 

 

Fifth stakes winner for Golden Horn
Golden Horn (Cape Cross) sired his fifth stakes winner when Golden Pass (4 f ex Lovely Pass by Raven’s Pass) won the Aphrodite Stakes (Listed, 1m4f) at Newmarket on Saturday. The Hugo Palmer-trained filly made all under James Doyle to hold off Free Wind (Galileo) by three quarters of a length with a further length back to Abstinence (Lope De Vega) in third. Golden Pass was purchased by Rob Speers for 150,000gns from the draft of Barton Stud at the 2018 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 1. She is the first stakes winner for her dam Lovely Pass (Raven’s Pass), winner of the UAE One Thousand Guineas (Listed, 1600m). Her second dam is Falmouth Stakes (Gr 2, 1m) winner Macadamia (Classic Cliche).

 

14 for Mehmas
Leading second season sire Mehams sired his 14th stakes winner when Beauty Inspire (2 c ex Darwll by Zamindar) ran out a length and quarter winner of the Anglesey Stakes (Gr 3, 6 1/2f) at the Curragh on Saturday. The Ger Lyons-trained 1-2 favourite tracked the pace before taking the lead inside the final furlong to draw away to score over Andreas Vesalius (Caravaggio), with a further half a length back to Hadman (Starspangledbanner) in third. Beauty Inspire was a €25,000 purchase by Tally-Ho Stud at the Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sale. He was withdrawn from the Tattersalls Guineas Breeze Up Sale earlier this year and racing in the colours of the Kwok family’s Beauty Stable Partnership who are best known for racing HK champion Beauty Generation (Road To Rock). Beauty Inspire is the first stakes winner for five generations and is out of the winning Zamindar (Mr. Prospector) mare Darwell. Later on in the afternoon Mehmas also sired the winner of the £200,000 Weatherbys Super Sprint (5f) at Newbury when the Richard Hannon-trained Gubbass maintained his unbeaten record. 

 

First Group win for Mooneista
The Jack Davison-trained Mooneista (3 f Dandy Man - Moon Unit by Intikhab) ran out a length and a quarter length winner of the Sapphire Stakes (Gr 2, 5f) at the Curragh on Saturday. Mooneista, a previous Listed winner, is owned by Paula Davison and is out of the Champion Older Female Sprinter in Ireland in 2005 & 2006 Moon Unit (Intikhab) winner of the Greenlands Stakes (Gr 3, 6f). Gustavus Weston (Equiano) finished second, with Romantic Proposal (Raven’s Pass) was a further two and three quarters of a length back in third. 

 

Snowfall adds Irish Oaks to her record
16 length English Oaks (Gr 1, 1m4f) winner Snowfall (3 f Deep Impact - Best In The World by Galileo) added the Irish Oaks (Gr 1, 1m4f) to her record running out an empathetic eight and half length winner. Snowfall is now three from three this season and by fair the best staying filly in Europe this season. Settled in midfield under Ryan Moore, Snowfall was roused along coming into the straight but quickly came on the bridle and made her ground to take the lead inside the final two furlongs before drawing right away to score effortlessly. Coolmore supplied the first four across the line with the Adrian O’Brien-trained Divinely (Galileo) finishing second, the Donnacha O’Brien-trained Nicest (American Pharaoh) was a further half a length back in third. Another daughter of American Pharaoh (Pioneerof The Nile), Willow, finished fourth. Snowfall is the first foal out of Group Three winner Best In The World (Galileo) and daughter of Locking Stakes (Gr 1, 1m) winner Red Evie (Intikhab) and a sister to champion and three time Group One winner Found. 

 

Ninth winner for Caravaggio
First season sire Caravaggio (Scat Daddy) sired his ninth winner when John The Baptist (2 g ex Scream Blue Murder, by Oratorio) ran out a narrow winner of a maiden over seven furlongs at the Curragh on Saturday. Caravaggio’s progeny are headed by three stakes horses including Listed winner Dizzy Bizu, winner of the Prix la Fleche (Listed, 1000m). Caravaggio shuttled to Australia for one season in 2018 and is now standing at Coolmore America where his 2021 fee was US$25,000.
