The Vinery Stud stallion moves one winner behind Capitalist in the leading first season sires table by winners
Vinery Stud’s first season sire Star Turn (Star Witness) recorded his 18th winner on Sunday, and 17th in Australia, when Avolonte (2 f ex Testa Sarah by Testa Rossa) won over 1000 metres at the Sunshine Coast, moving Star Turn to just one winner behind Capitalist (Written Tycoon) in the leading first season sires table in Australia by winners.
Trained by Stuart Kendrick, Avolonte was having her fourth career start and after racing towards the rear of the field, came with a good run down the outside to pull clear and beat favourite Mishani Enchanted (Jet Spur) by a length and a half.
The filly was bought for $60,000 by Bloodstock Solutions from the draft of Vinery Stud at last year’s Inglis Classic Yearling Sale during the Highway Session and becomes the first winner out of the unraced mare Testa Sarah (Testa Rossa).
Star Turn, who has also sired one winner in Hong Kong this season, will stand for a fee of $16,500 (inc GST) this year.
