Feudalist breaks his maiden at Nowra to extend Capitalist’s lead in the sires table
Newgate Farm’s first season sire Capitalist (Written Tycoon) extended his lead in the leading first season sires table in Australia by winners on Monday when Feudalist (2 c ex Laetitia by Woodman) broke his maiden over 1400 metres at Nowra.
Capitalist has sired 19 winners in Australia, one in New Zealand, and is now two winners ahead of nearest rival Star Turn (Star Witness), who recorded his 17th winner in Australia on Sunday, in the leading first season sires table by winners in Australia.
Having his third career start on Monday, the Gary Portelli-trained Feudalist appreciated the step up to 1400 metres and under Brodie Loy scored a three quarters of a length victory over three-year-old Who Fancies You (Medaglia d’Oro).
Bought for $80,000 by Elite Thoroughbreds at last year’s Inglis Classic Yearling Sale from the draft of Sledmere Stud, Feudalist becomes the seventh winner for his dam who has also produced Group Three winning sire Stryker (Fastnet Rock).
Capitalist will stand for a career high fee of $99,000 (inc GST) this year having stood for $44,000 (inc GST) in 2020 when he covered a book of 238 mares.
