75 for Dark Angel
Yeomanstown Stud’s Dark Angel (Acclamation) sired his 76th stakes winner on Thursday when Berdibek (8 g ex Beraviyna by Zamindar) won the Rowley Mile (Listed, 1600m) at Hawkesbury. The John O’Shea-trained European import beat Kukeracha (Night Of Thunder) by a neck and took his record to five wins and six placings in 27 starts. “He’s a deserved winner of a Listed race in Australia. He has been a little unlucky, but he has been a really enjoyable horse for his owners. Dark Angel’s son Harry Angel shuttles to Darley’s Kelvinside farm where his fee for his third season in Australia has been set at $16,500 (inc GST), unchanged from 2020 when he covered 106 mares.

32 for No Nay Never
Coolmore Stud’s No Nay Never (Scat Daddy), whose daughter Zain Claudette (2 f ex Claudette by Speightstown) won her second second race when she captured the Lowther Stakes (Gr 2, 6f) at York earlier in the afternoon, sired a stakes double on Thursday when Horoscope (3 c ex Inca Wood by Timber County) won the Ruby Stakes (Listed, 1m) at Killarney, becoming the 32nd stakes winner for his sire. Taking the lead with 200 metres left to travel, the Aidan O’Brien-trained Horoscope scored a dominant two and three quarter length victory over Masen (Kingman). No Nay Never, who stood at Coolmore Stud for a fee of €125,000 this year, has sired three Group One winners to date in Alcohol Free, Ten Sovereigns and Brooke.

341 for Galileo
The Jessie Harrington-trained Forbearance (4 f ex Nechita by Fastnet Rock) became the 341st stakes winner for Coolmore’s late multiple champion sire Galileo (Sadler’s Wells)when she won Thursday’s Galtress Stakes (Listed, 1m4f) at York. Bred by Coolmore and owned by Newtown Anner Stud, Forbearance is one of two winners and the first stakes winner out of Coolmore Stud Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) winner Nechita (Fastnet Rock) who was bought for $1.55 million by Tom Magnier at the 2013 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale. De Burgh Equine and Darby Racing bought Nechita’s other winner, Harpo Marx (Galileo), at the 2019 Tattersalls Autumn Horses In Training Sale. He is now trained in Australia by Bjorn Baker and has won six times and placed in another six starts.
