16th Group One winner for Arrowfield Stud’s Snitzel who has sired six individual stakes winners so far this season
The successful season of Arrowfield Stud’s Snitzel (Redoute’s Choice) continued on Friday at Moonee Valley when Wild Ruler (4 h ex Gypsy Robin by Daaher) landed the Moir Stakes (Gr 1, 1000m), becoming his sires 16th Group One winner.
Currently sitting at the head of the leading sires table in Australia by earnings, $800,000 of nearest rival I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit), Snitzel has now sired six individual stakes winners so far this season; Bruckner, In The Congo, Mr Mozart, Splintex, Four Moves Ahead the others.
Wild Ruler was sent to Melbourne last week to prepare for Friday’s race and under a good ride from Daniel Moor, the son of Snitzel held off The Inferno (Holy Roman Emperor) to score by a short head, with Trekking (Street Cry) another length and a half away in third.
It was the first time that Moor has ridden the entire who is raced by a group that includes Newgate Bloodstock, China Horse Club and WinStar, who bought Wild Ruler for $525,000 at the 2019 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale when offered by his breeder Kia Ora Stud.
"I rode a smart horse for connections in Super One, but this bloke is just a new level," Moor said.
"Everything I asked him to do he was the ultimate professional and he's got a really good turn of foot.
"He's an electric racehorse and hopefully he can do that at stud now."
Moor rode a stakes double at Moonee Valley on Friday and the Moir victory was his second at Group One level in a week. He thanked Wild Ruler’s connections for the opportunity.
"I'm really thankful for the opportunities, especially China Horse Club, Newgate Farm, Henry Field and the Snowdens," Moor said.
"They've given me an outstanding opportunity here and I'm very pleased to make the most of it."
Winner of the Arrowfield Sprint (Gr 2, 1200m) at Randwick in April and placed in the Coolmore Stud Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) at Flemington last spring, Wild Ruler has now won six of his 13 career starts and placed in another four.
The Snowden's Melbourne representative Adrew Angelone took Wild Ruler to The Valley for a gallop and said after that the entire has matured since last spring.
"He arrived last Thursday and came here on Monday," Angelone said.
"It's very important to come and have a look at The Valley. It's a daunting track - everything is really close. It's a tight turning track so it is always good for them to have a look.
"He's a professional with everything he does, and I knew that would definitely help him.
"I last saw him in the Coolmore Stud Stakes, and he's just matured so much.
"He's such a lovely type of horse and it's just fantastic."
Wild Ruler is out of the Daaher (Awesome Again) mare Gypsy Robin, a dual Grade Two winner and Grade One placed in the US who was bought at the 2013 Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale by Alex Kingston for US$750,000.
She has produced one other winner from three named foals and her American Pharoah (Pioneerof The Nile) filly failed to make her $200,000 reserve at this year’s Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.
Gypsy Robin was covered by Snitzel again last November having produced another filly by American Pharoah.
