Savabeel adds a new Group One winner and Deep Field, Extreme Choice, Niagara, Noble Mission and Tavistock sire new stakes winners
12 for Deep Field
The Newgate Farm-based Deep Field (Northern Meteor) recorded his 12th stakes winner on Saturday when Big Parade (5 g ex Crystal Rock by Fastnet Rock) won the Sydney Stakes (Gr 3, 1200m) at Randwick. Big Parade was bought for $160,000 by Steve Summers from the Middlebrook Valley Lodge draft at the 2018 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale and is the second winner out of winning mare Crystal Rock (Fastnet Rock), herself a half-sister to Golden Slipper Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) second Zizou (Fusaichi Pegasus). Crystal Rock’s filly Hellbent (I Am Invincible) sold for $300,000 to Star Thoroughbreds and Randwick Bloodstock Agency at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale earlier this year and she was covered by Star Turn (Star Witness) last year. Deep Field meanwhile is standing for a career high fee of $88,000 (Inc GST) having covered 200 mares last year at a fee of $55,000 (inc GST).

Five for Extreme Choice
Deep Field’s barnmate Extreme Choice (Not A Single Doubt) recorded his fifth stakes winner on Saturday when Extreme Flight (3 c ex Abscond by Galileo) won the Gothic Stakes (Listed, 1400m) at Caulfield. The Anthony and Sam Freedman-trained colt took his career record to three wins and one placing in five starts and is the fourth foal and third stakes winner out of the unraced Galileo (Sadler’s Wells) mare Abscond (Galileo) who has also produced Group One winner Invincibella (I Am Invincible) and Group Three scorer Secret Blaze (Sizzling). Extreme Flight was bought for $340,000 by Anthony Cummings from the Sledmere draft at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale last year. Extreme Choice is standing for a private fee this year and produced just 48 live foals from his first crop in 2018. He is currently in fifth place in the leading second season sires table in Australia by earnings.
Extreme Flight holds on in a tight finish to take out the Listed Gothic Stakes.

Three for Niagara
There You Go (3 f ex Not A Dancer by Not A Single Doubt) provided The Oaks Stud-based sire Niagara (Encosta De Lago) with his third stakes winner when she won the John Grigg Stakes (Gr 3, 1400m) at Ashburton on Saturday. The Tony Pike-trained filly is out of the Not A Single Doubt (Redoute’s Choice) mare Not A Dancer. Niagara is standing for NZ$5,000 (plus GST) this year.

Eight for Noble Mission
USA-bred Buffalo River (6 g ex Fashion Insider by Indian Charlie) won Saturday’s Moonga Stakes (Gr 3, 1400m) at Caulfield, providing his sire Noble Mission (Galileo) with his eighth stakes winner. Buffalo River was bought for 180,000 guineas by bloodstock agent Paul Moroney at the 2018 Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training Sale and is from the family of Grade Two winning duo Bwana Charlie (Indian Charlie) and My Pal Charlie (Indian Charlie). Noble Mission was based at Lane’s End Farm in Kentucky but relocated to Japan for the 2021 Northern Hemisphere breeding season.

24 for Savabeel
Savy Yong Blonk (6 m ex Ampin by Pins) provided sire Savabeel (Zabeel) his 24th Group One winner when the mare took out the Livamol Classic (Gr 1, 2040m) at Hastings on Saturday. The Jamie Richards-trained mare beat Harlech (Darci Brahma) by a head, with Prise De Fer (Savabeel) a further half-length back in third and took her tally to eight wins and eight placings in 27 starts. The multiple champion Waikato Stud-based Savabeel currently leads the sires table in New Zealand by earnings with Savy Yong Blonk his leading earner so far this season.

32 for Tavistock
The Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr-trained Gunstock (3 c ex Zeranti by Zabeel) took out Saturday’s Caulfield Classic (Gr 2, 2000m) at Caulfield becoming stakes winner number 32 for the last Cambridge Stud-based sire Tavistock (Montjeu) when stepping up to 2000 metres..Gunstock will now be aimed at the VRC Derby (Gr 1, 2500m) on October 30. He was bought at the Inglis Ready2Race Sale last year for $135,000 by Import Racing when offered by Ohukia Lodge who bought him as a yearling for NZ$80,000 from the New Zealand Bloodstock Karaka National Yearling Sale from the Cambridge Stud draft. Tavistock died in December 2019 following a paddock accident.
