A look at the stallions who produced Australia’s top performers from August
Wednesday's final day of August brought down the curtain on the first month of the 2022/23 Australian racing season, which saw a mixed bag of stallions represented among Timeform's highest-rating performers of the month.
It's no surprise that the list of top performers is dominated by horses who came through the Group 1s with the top eight ratings returned by horses out of the Winx Stakes (1400m) and Memsie Stakes (1400m).
Street Boss's star performer Anamoe rated 125 in his Winx Stakes win, while Snapdancer (Choisir) went 118 in last week's Memsie Stakes.
I Wish I Win, a son of Savabeel, was the top-rating performer outside the Group 1s, pulling a 115 in his Open Handicap win at Caulfield last week, the same number returned by Le Don De Vie (Leroidesanimaux) although unplaced in the G3 Premier's Cup.
I Wish I Win was one of 24 winners who rated 109 or higher during August and all were by different stallions.
I Am Invincible had more 100-plus raters than any other stallion with nine. King Of Sparta's fourth placing in the G3 Aurie's Star Handicap (1200m) the best figure returned by a product of the Yarraman Park stallion, while Garibaldi's 105 was his best return from a winner.
The next most prolific producers of 100-plus performers were Snitzel and Zoustar with seven each, while the others with more than three were Fastnet Rock, Per Incanto, Sea The Stars, So You Think and Tavistock, who all had five, and Deep Field had four.
