Golden Day became the latest winner for one of Australia's enduring producers when the Andrew Noblet-trained mare broke her maiden at Ballarat on Tuesday.

The daughter of Snitzel became the 12th winner from the Made Of Gold mare Gold Anthem, who is best known for the deeds of her third foal, globe-trotting star and now successful stallion Starspangledbanner (Choisir).

Golden Day is the 15th named-foal from Gold Anthem, whose other progeny include multiple winners Gold Chant – who is the dam of Thousand Guineas winner Amicus Wilderness, Barood, Will's Bid and Aussie.

Golden Day's maiden win came at her second start, following a debut third placing at Echuca, and Noblet said it was satisfying to get the four-year-old into the winner's stall for her breeder, Tony Santic.

"Being a well-related horse, it was important to get a win with her," Noblet said of the mare who failed to reach her $400,000 reserve at the 2021 Inglis Easter sale.

"She's a half to Starspangledbanner and one of her (Gold Anthem's) last foals and is very much like that, backward and immature.

"She was passed-in at the sales and Tony elected to keep her and hopefully she makes a nice broodmare for him."

After Golden Day, Gold Anthem had a colt by The Autumn Sun who has been named Too Much Gold and is with Matt Laurie at Mornington but missed to The Autumn Sun the following year and failed to get in foal last season after visits to Frosted and Blue Point.
