Crowd favourite Kementari was not the only 'sire' with few on the ground who provided the winner of the first race at a metropolitan venue on Wednesday.

Affordable, winner of the first race at Sandown shortly before Kementari's only son Manwe won at Canterbury, also does not have too many siblings.

The David Brideoake and Matt Jenkins-trained gelding is one of just three foals who make up the first crop for Hardham.

A son of Redoute's Choice, Hardham won the Group 2 Alister Clark Stakes (2040m) before placing in the Group 1 ATC Australian Derby (2400m) in the autumn of 2017.

Hardham stood his first season at stud the following year, when he covered eight mares and produced four live foals.

Affordable became his first winner when he won at Bendigo in June last year, while he also won a benchmark 64 event at that track in June this year.

He became Hardham's first city winner when he cruised home by 2-1/4 lengths under Celine Gaudray in the 2100m Ladbroke It Handicap at Sandown.

The other named members of Hardham's first crop are a filly named Abbey Rose who has not yet raced, while his other to the track is Mr Saxabeat, whose lone start resulted in a sixth placing in a Pakenham maiden.

Hardham covered two mares in 2019 for two foals; Zipper Gate, who has had three starts for two minor placings, and the unraced Workhardplayhard.

Hardham has five foals in 2021, produced three last year and covered six mares last year.
