Good results continued on Day 2 at the September Sale at Keeneland.
A yearling who sold for US$3 million – the equivalent of $4,675,000 Australian – ensured the good early results continued on Day 2 of the Keeneland September Sale on Tuesday.
The colt by Into Mischief from the Empire Maker mare Nonna Mia was one of 15 seven-figure lots of a session that saw 111 horses sell for a total of US$61,595,000 at an average of $554,910.
All up, $116,925,000 has changed hands across the first two days, which is up almost three percent on the first two days' results from last year.
The $3m colt, who is a half-brother to Group 1 winner and sire Outwork from the family of recent Saratoga juvenile winner Fierceness, was bought by the partnership of Sonson, Woodford, West Point and LEB, which has dreams of getting him to a Kentucky Derby.
"I was up at Saratoga when Fierceness won, I was awestruck by that performance," West Point's Terry Finley said.
"(It's a) young family with Into Mischief, you don't have to say much. He was always at Lane's End so we knew a little about his upbringing.
"We are really excited and have a new group of partners who are in on him. We will try to get to the Derby in 2025."
Other headline lots of the session were an Uncle Mo filly who is a half-sister to multiple Grade 1 winner Shedaresthedevil who sold for $2.5m, while Coolmore's M.V. Magnier paid $1.8m for a colt by Into Mischief out of the Group 2 winner Princess Haya.
