A half-sister to champion sprinter Santa Ana Lane was the headline lot of the Inglis Digital February (Early) Online Sale after selling for $205,000.

Fast Star, a daughter of Zoustar and Santa Ana Lane's dam Fast Fleet, was bought back by one of her part-owners and the man who bred her, Bill Pearce of Bromfield Park.

The four-year-old injured a tendon after taking her record to two wins from five starts at Pakenham on January 18 and Pearce said she was a mare he couldn't dare to part with.

"We thought she was a black type mare on the track, even Blake Shinn said after he won on her a few weeks ago that it was just a matter of time and the right placement and she'd win a Stakes race, and then four days later she bowed a tendon,'' Pearce said.

"That's a 12-18 month injury, so we put her up for sale and she'll be retired immediately.

"She'll head to Vinery Stud now to continue her recovery and we'll send her to a stallion this season.

"I wanted to breed with her because being by Zoustar, the Northern Meteor line and the Fairy King Prawn family, it's one I believe in and one I want to keep breeding into."

Fast Star was the banner lot of a sale that also saw Group 3-placed gelding Atmosphere (Lonhro x Ambience) sell to Jack Bruce and High Calibre Racing for $135,000 and Listed winner Gravina (Sebring x Metastasio) sell to Matt Dale for $105,000.

That was the same amount Australian Bloodstock paid for Kingman colt Delrico, while five-year-old mare Invencible – a daughter of I Am Invincible and former star filly Villa Verde – was the other six-figure lot, selling for $100,000.

In total the February (Early) Sale grossed $3,466,150 with an 85 percent clearance rate.

Entries are now open for the Inglis Digital February (Late) Sale, which will be held from Feb 23-28 with entries to close at midnight on Wednesday February 21.
