A half-sister to In Her Time is the new top lot of this year’s Inglis Classic Sale.
New Hunter Valley operation North announced itself in the best possible way at its maiden Inglis Classic Sale, producing the standout lot of the second day of selling at the Sydney offering.
North's filly by Too Darn Hot out of Hell It's Hot got to $600,000 before being knocked down to ever-growing Victorian operation Yulong under the YLP Racing banner.
It is the first year of selling for North, which is run by former long-time Kitchwin Hills manager Mick Malone, and he was thrilled to make an impact.
"It's just a terrific result, she's a lovely filly – honestly, she has the best brain on a horse I've had for a long, long time," Malone, who runs North with Pauline Alix, said.
"She just handled it so well. (She's a) ripper (result).
"The support we've had since we started, me and Pauline, has been amazing and that just ticks off all the hard work we've put in."
The new top lot of the sale is out a daughter of Zeditave who has already produced two-time Group 1 winner In Her Time (Time Thief) and is a half-sister to the dam of The Everest winner Yes Yes Yes.
North's banner lot was one of two fillies who sold for more than the $375,000 Street Boss colt who topped Day 1 with a daughter of Justify and American mare Islay Inlet, a daughter of Lemon Drop Kid, selling for $420,000.
The Mullaglass Stud-prepared filly was bought by Bryce Heys and Ellerslie Lodge.
A daughter of Written Tycoon and Snitzel mare Mulhimah, who is from the family of Samaready, Almalad and County Tyrone, also sold for $360,000, meaning three of the top four lots of the sale to date were fillies sold on Day 2.
The sale gross jumped almost $20 million to $38,626,000 after the second session with the average rising from $94,929 to $97,295 with the median and clearance rate both solid at $80,000 and 83 percent respectively.
The sale continues with Tuesday's third and final day where one of the headline entries is expected to be Lot 750, a filly by North Pacific out of Sunlit, which makes her a half-sister to Saturday's $2 million Inglis Millennium winner Fully Lit (Hellbent).
