King’s Stand Stakes winner dies at the age of 25

King's Stand Stakes (Gr 2, 5f) winner and Group 1 producer Cassandra Go (Indian Ridge) has died at Ballyhimikin Stud at the age of 25. 

Bought by Trevor Stewart for 200,000gns at the 1997 Tattersalls Houghton Yearling Sale, Cassandra Go was sent into training with Geoff Wragg in Newmarket and went on to win six of her 17 career starts highlighted by her victory in the King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot in 2001. She also finished second in the July Cup (Gr 1, 6f) at Newmarket the following month at her final race start. 

Cassandra Go went on to produce nine winners from 13 named foals headed by three-time Group 1 winner Halfway To Heaven (Pivotal) who was bought for €450,000 by Demi O'Bryne at the 2006 Goffs Ireland Million Sale and herself produced multiple Group 1 winners and champions Magical (Galileo) and Rhododendron (Galileo). 

Cassandra Go's Group 2 winning daughter Theann (Rock Of Gibraltar) meanwhile produced dual Grade 1 winning filly Photo Call (Galileo) who was bought by Katsumi Yoshida for US$2.7 million at the 2019 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky November Mixed Sale. 

In 2017, Cassandra Go's filly by Invincible Spirit (Green Desert) sold for 1,600,000gns to MV Magnier at the 2017 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 1, now named Fantasy she has gone on to place at Group 3 level.
