Dubawi and Dark Angel sire new stakes winners on Thursday

214 for Dubawi
The Godolphin homebred Modern Games (2 c ex Modern Ideals by New Approach) became stakes winner number 214 for Darley’s Dubawi (Dubai Millennium) when he won Thursday’s Somerville Tattersall Stakes (Listed, 7f) at Newmarket. The Charlie Appleby-trained colt, who is now the winner of three of his five career starts, ran on well inside the closing stages to pull clear and beat favourite Trident (Wootton Bassett) by two and a half lengths. He is out of Modern Ideals (New Approach) who is a half-sister to Group One winner Ultra (Manduro). Dubawi has sired 40 juvenile stakes winners including his Group One winning son Too Darn Hot who shuttles to Darley’s Kelvinside Farm where his 2021 fee is $44,000 (inc GST). 

 

78 for Dark Angel
Mangoustine (2 f ex Zotilla by Zamindar) remained unbeaten in the Criterium de Lyon (Listed, 1600m) at Lyon Parilly on Thursday and handed Dark Angel (Acclamation) his 78th stakes winner. Starting favourite, Mangoustine beat Toimy Son (Twilight Son) by a length and is now unbeaten in two career starts. The Yeomanstown Stud-based Dark Angel and he is currently sitting in second in the leading sires table in Europe by winners.
