Dubawi and Muhaarar record new Group One winners

46 for Dubawi
​​Darley’s Dubawi (Dubai Millennium) recorded his 46th Group One winner when Creative Force (3 g ex Choose Me by Choisir) won the Champions Sprint Stakes (Gr 1, 6f) at Ascot on Saturday. Ridden by William Buick and trained by Charlie Appleby defeated Glen Shiel (Pivotal) by a length. Creative Force is out of the Listed winner Choose Me (Choisir), making him a half-brother to Group One winner Persuasive (Dark Angel) and Listed scorer Tisbutadream (Dream Ahead). A former shuttler, Dubawi is based at Dalham Hall Stud in Newmarket. 

 

First for Muhaarar
Eshaada (3 f ex Muhawalah by Nayef) claimed Saturday’s Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes (Gr 1, 1m 4f) at Ascot, giving the Shadwell Stud-based sire Muhaarar (Oasis Dream)  his first Group One winner. The Roger Varian-trained filly defeated Albaflora, another daughter of Muhaarar, by a short-head, with Snowfall (Deep Impact) a further three and a half lengths back in third. Muhaarar stood at Shadwell’s Nunnery Stud in 2021 for a fee of £10,000.

 

16 for Dawn Approach
Georgeville (5 g ex Big Break by Dansili) scored his first stakes victory in the Trigo Stakes (Listed, 1m 2f) at Leopardstown, giving Dawn Approach (New Approach) his 16th stakes winner. Bred by Juddmonte, Georgeville was sold at Tattersalls Horses In Training Sale for 75,000gns last year and he is out of dual Group Three winning Dansili (Danehill) mare Big Break (Dansili), a sister to multiple Group One winner Famous Name. Further back this is the family Makybe Diva (Desert King).


77 for Kodiac
The Aidan O’Brien-trained Glounthaune (2 c ex Khaimah by Nayef) won the Killavullan Stakes (Gr 3, 7f) at Leopardstown on Saturday, providing Kodiac (Danehill) with his 77th stakes winner. Glounthanune took the lead in the final 100 metres to score by half a length from Pennine Hills (Kodiac). Bred by Tally-Ho Stud where his sire stands, Glounthaune was bought by MV Magnier for 350,000 guineas at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale last year.
