62 for Frankel
Juddmonte Farm’s Frankel (Galileo) sired his 62nd stakes winner on Sunday when Rumi (3 c ex Secrete by Cape Cross) won the Prix Vanteaux (Gr 3, 1800m) at Longchamp. The colt broke his maiden at Longchamp last October and finished fourth on his seasonal debut at Saint-Cloud on April 3 and on Sunday he scored a three quarter length victory over the Andre Fabre-trained favourite Petricor - who is a daughter of Frankel. Omnia Munda Mundis (Australia) was the same distance back in third. Frankel’s stakes winners are headed by 13 Group 1 winners and the son of Galileo (Sadler’s Wells) has a strike rate of 14 per cent stakes winners to runners. In Australia his 35 runners have yielded 22 winners and six stakes winners including the Group 1 winning pair Hungry Heart and Mirage Dancer.

Adhamo becomes 15th stakes winner for Intello
The Wertheimer & Frere homebred Adhamo (3 c ex Foreign Tune by Invincible Spirit) became the 15th stakes winner for Intello (Galileo) when he won Sunday’s Prix la Force (Gr 3, 1800m) at Longchamp on Sunday. Having the second start of his three-year-old season having won over 1800 metres at Chantilly on March 23, the Freddie Head-trained Adhamo scored an impressive three length victory, beating the Andre Fabre-trained and Godolphin-raced Erasmo (Oasis Dream). Darkness (Siyouni) was a further two lengths back in third. Intello’s 15 stakes winners are headed by Group 1 winner Intellogent and he has sired four winners in Australia including NE Manion Cup (Gr 3, 2400m) winner Young Rascal. After standing two breeding seasons at Cheveley Park Stud in Newmarket Intello returned to Haras du Quesnay in France for the 2020 breeding season and his 2021 fee is advertised at €10,000.

44 for Le Havre
Wertheimer & Frere homebred Solsticia (4 f ex Solilea by Galileo) became the 44th stakes winner for Le Havre (Noverre) when she took out Sunday’s Prix Zarkava (LIsted, 2100m) at Longchamp. The Andre Fabre-trained filly scored a short neck victory over Control Tower (Youmzain) who was a length and a quarter ahead of Noble Music (Sea The Moon). Le Havre stands at Montfort et Preaux where his 2021 fee was set at €40,000. His stakes winners include five Group 1 winners in La Cressonniere, Avenir Certain, Wonderful Tonight, Suedois and Villa Marina.

Poetic Flare adds a second Group 3
The Jim Bolger-trained Poetic Flare (3 c Dawn Approach - Maria Lee by Rock Of Gibraltar) added a second Group 3 to his resume when he won Sunday’s 2,000 Guineas Trial (Listed, 7f) at Leopardstown. A winner of the Killavullan Stakes (Gr 3, 7f) at Leopardstown last October, Poetic Flare is owned by Mrs Jim Bolger and bred by his trainer. On Sunday he made his challenge with 400 metres left to run and took the lead inside the final furlong and stayed on well to beat Ace Aussie (Australia) by a length and a half with Monaasib (Bobby’s Kitten) a short head further back in third. "I'm told he could go anywhere. He (Bolger) hasn't decided which of the Guineas, but the two of them (Poetic Flare and Mac Swiney) won't run in the same race. The boss is very happy with them," said Bolger stable representative Una Manning. "He hasn't been away anywhere this year for a gallop so he's absolutely delighted."

Poetic Flare is out of the once-raced Rock Of Gibraltar (Danehill) mare Maria Lee making him a half-brother to dual Listed winner Glamorous Approach (New Approach). His third dam is the grandam of dual Group 1 winner and successful sire Teofilo (Galileo).

Seven for Mehmas
Sunday’s 1,000 Guineas Trial (Gr 3, 7f) at Leopardstown was won by 80-1 shot Keeper Of Time (3 f ex Motheeba by Mustanfar) who became the seventh stakes winner for her sire Mehmas (Acclamation). Keeper Of Time took the lead within the final 100 metres of the race and just held on to score by a head from Mehnah (Frankel) with Sense Of Style (Zoffany), who started as odds of 66-1 for trainer Joseph O’Brien, another length back in third. The victory provided trainer John Feane with his first Group success but is no certainty to be substituted for the Irish 1,000 Guineas (Gr 1, 1m). Mehmas meanwhile was champion first season sire in Europe last season, breaking the record for the number of winners sired in a season, and his stakes winners are headed by Middle Park Stakes (Gr 1, 6f) winner Supremacy. He is currently standing for a fee of €25,000 at Tally Ho Stud in Ireland.

332 for Galileo
The Aidan O’Brien-trained Bolshoi Ballet (3 c ex Alta Anna by Anabaa) won Sunday’s Ballysax Stakes (Gr 3, 1m2f) at the Curragh becoming the 332nd stakes winner for his peerless sire Galileo (Sadler’s Wells) and his trainer indicated. Under jockey Ryan Moore, Bolshoi Ballet stayed on well in the closing stages to beat Flying Visit (Pride Of Dubai) by two and a quarter lengths with Taipan (Frankel) a nose further back in third. "You'd be delighted with him as he only ran on soft ground (last season) and will have learned a lot today," said O'Brien after the race. "He'll probably come back here for the Derrinstown if all goes well with him. He's straightforward and, while you're never sure, he should get a mile and a half. He goes to the line well."

Bolshoi Ballet is one of five winners out of the unraced Anabaa (Danzig) mare Alta Anna making him a brother to Zipping Classic (Gr 2, 2400m) winner Southern France. His second dam produced three winners including French Group 3 winner Abbatiale (Kaldoun) who is herself the dam of multiple Group 3 winner Bewitched (Dansili).

48 for Areion
In Germany on Sunday Zavaro’s (4 c ex Zavaala by Rock Of Gibraltar) victory in the Kalkmaan Fruhjahrs-Meile (Gr 3, 1600m) at Dusseldorf provided his sire Areion (Big Shuffle) with his 48th stakes winner. Last seen winning a conditions race over 1600 metres on March 14, Zavaro scored a dominant length and three quarters victory over Schwesterherz - another son of Areion - while Padron (Gris De Gris) was a head back in third. Areion has sired one Group 1 winner to date in Alson and he has sired seven Group 2 winners. He stands at Gestut Etzean where his 2021 fee is set at €12,500.

183 for Exceed And Excel
Darley's Exceed And Excel (Danehill) was represented by his 183rd stakes winner on Sunday when his son Attimo Fuggente (4 c ex Vague Nouvelle by Mastercraftsman) won the Premio Signorino (Listed, 1800m) at Rome yesterday. Trained by Alduino Botti, Attimo Fuggente beat Axcelerator (Excelebration) and his Listed winner and stablemate Baptism (Sea The Stars) into third. Exceed And Excel's stakes winners include 16 Group 1 winners.
