The Andre Fabre-trained Ocean Atlantique (3 c ex Tare Green by Giant's Causeway) ran out an impressive winner of the Prix de Suresnes (Listed, 2000m) at Deauville on Sunday and in the process handed Coolmore shuttler American Pharoah (Pioneerof The Nile) with his seventh stakes winner.

The three-year-old colt was last seen running second in the Prix La Force (Gr 3, 1800m) earlier in the month and he showed his class in the final stages to come away with an impressive five length victory over Irska (Hunter’s Light) with another short-head back to Alfareeq (Dark Angel) in third.

Speaking after the race, jockey Pierre-Charles Boudot said, "He's a colt with a good mind on him who is calm and takes his work well. He accelerated well in the straight and stayed all the way to the line. He's improving with racing."

Purchased as a yearling for US$275,000 at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale, Ocean Atlantique was then re-offered at the Arqana May Breeze-Up Sale and he was secured by the Broadhurst Agency for €1,100,000.

The colt hails from on of the most renowned families in the European stud book and is out of the unraced Giant's Causeway (Storm Cat) mare Tare Green, who is herself a half-sister to multiple Grade 1 winners Leroidesanimaux (Candy Stripes) and Uapybo (Blush Rambler) and Grade 3 scorer Disport (Blue Stag).

The colt’s third dam is Kerali (High Line) who in turn produced blue-hen mare Hasili ( Kahyasi) - the dam of seven winners including top-flight winners Banks Hill (Danehill), Intercontinental (Danehill), Cacique (Danehill), Heat Haze (Green Desert). Her other winners include Group 2 winner and late top-class sire Dansili (Danehill).

Further afield this is also the family of Group 3 winner and former Arrowfield Stud stallion Scissor Kick (Redoute’s Choice).

American Pharoah’s first yearlings in Australia went through the ring, with 55 yearlings making an aggregate of $13,800,543 selling at an average of $250,918.
