Former Darley reverse shuttler Brazen Beau (I Am Invincible) sired his eighth stakes winner and first in the UK when Dubai Station (2 c ex Princess Guest by Iffraaj) landed the Pavilion Stakes (Gr 3, 6f) at Newcastle on Thursday.

The Karl Burke-trained three-year-old hit the front approaching the final furlong and stayed on gamely to score a neck victory over Malotru (Casamento), while Dream Shot (Dream Ahead) was a length and a quarter back in third.

Burke confirmed that the colt would now head to the Commonwealth Cup (Gr 1, 6f) at Royal Ascot on June 19.

"We thought he was up to this type of grade and he proved it today. I thought we were beat as the plan wasn't to be in front that soon but Ben [Curtis] had to commit and he'll be a better horse again with more of a lead into the race.

"Fingers crossed he comes out of it well and then we'll go for the Commonwealth Cup and fast ground would suit him. He's a very good horse and has a good turn of foot."

The colt was purchased by Ahmad Al Shaikh for 30,000gns at Book 2 of the 2018 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale and he is out of the unplaced Iffraaj (Zafonic) mare Princess Guest, who is herself a half-sister to Listed winner Imperial Guest (Imperial Dancer).

Further back this is the family of dual Grade 1 winner Frankly Perfect (Perrault) and Listed-winning Sibling Rival (Quest For Fame) and Franc Argument (Argument).

Brazen Beau stood at Dalham Hall in Newmarket for four seasons, but did not return in 2020 and he will stand the upcoming breeding season at Northwood Park in Victoria for a fee of $49,500 (inc GST).
