Darley stallion gets off the mark at Chantilly
Darley shuttler Territories (Invincible Spirit) sired his first winner as the Cedric Rossi-trained Rougir (2 f ex Summer Moon by Elusive City) landed the Prix Pauline (1400m) at Chantilly on Wednesday.
The result never looked in doubt as the two-year-old filly sauntered to an easy length victory over Jean-Claude Rouget’s Isle Of Wight (Siyouni) with another neck back to King's Harlequin (Camelot) in third.
Rougir was purchased as a foal at the 2018 Arqana December Breeding Stock Sale in Deauville for €11,000 and then realised €55,000 at the Arqana Deauville August Yearling Sale the following year.
The filly is out of stakes-placed Elusive City (Elusive Quality) mare Summer Moon, who is already the dam of one winner.
Summer Moon herself is out of Kalatuna (Green Tune), who is herself out of stakes winner Kalasinger (Chief Singer), while further back this is the family of Kahyasi (Ile de Bourbon), who landed both the English and Irish Derby (Gr 1, 1m4f) in 1988.
The son of Invincible Spirit (Green Desert) will stand at Darley's Kelvinside base for a fee of $11,000 (inc GST) in 2020, his fourth season at stud in Australia.
