Second winner for Haunui shuttler Belardo
Got Luck (2 f ex Pastiches by Street Cry) became the second winner for Haunui Farm shuttler Belardo (Lope De Vega) when she won Thursday's Prix de l’Avenir (1300m) at Craon on debut.
The filly defeated Hardance (Muhaarar) by a length with a further half-length back to Atsana (Oasis Dream) in third.
Got Luck becomes the second winner for her dam Pastiches (Street Cry) who won over nine furlongs in Ireland. Her second dam is the 2001 Prix Saint-Alary (Gr 1, 2000m) winner Nadia (Nashwan) who went on to produce six winners including the stakes-placed gelding Namecheck (Shamardal). Further back this is the family of Group / Grade 1 winners Signs Of Blessings (Invincible Spirit) and Sophie P (Bushranger).
Belardo’s first winner was the William Haggas-trained Golden Melody who won at Haydock on Sunday. The son of Lope De Vega stood at Darley’s Kildangan Stud in Ireland for a fee of €10,000 this year and his fee at Haunui Farm has been set at NZ$10,000 (plus GST). His first crop of New Zealand-bred yearlings sold for up to NZ$210,000 at Karaka 2020 - Book 1.
